CHARISMA CUP SEMI FINAL
BRICKFIELD RANGERS 0 CHIRK 1
Brickfield bowed out in the semi final to a single goal defeat against champions Chirk. Brickfield started the better and only a last ditch tackle prevented Dan Giowanowicz opening the scoring in the first 5 minutes. Some lovely football by Bricky in the opening 20 minutes was undone when Chirks tall midfielder was allowed a free shot from 25 yards and found the corner. Chirk then had the better of play as Bricky hung on for 10 minutes but to their credit they battled themselves back into the game by halftime. Second half and Stephen Green just couldn't get enough on the ball to lob the advancing keeper in the opening minute. The game was end to end without a clear chance for either team. Then for the last 20 minutes Brickfield took control, Green again with a looping shot which just cleared the bar, Adam Bolton with 2 efforts from the edge of the area went close. But the best fell to Jimmy Ledezma when the defender misjudged his header and the ball fell for him just 8 yards out but the shot was snatched at and cleared the bar. Liam Douglas, starting his first game of the season in goal, made a smart save towards the end as Bricky pushed forward. Special mention to referee Gavin Maloney and his assistants, Mark Hazeldene and Kevin Jones who contributed to a cracking game of football.
Many there agreed that the best team lost, but the boys can take a lot of pride in their performance which was probably the best of the season and shows just how far these boys have come during the year.
Best wishes to Chirk in the Final
Man of the Match - Adam Jones. I would say the best performance by any player of mine I have seen at youth level in 8 years....FANTASTIC
