MATCH DAY 1 v Penycae (away)

3rd September 2011

Result: - Won 6-1

Match Report: -

We could not have asked for a better start to the new season, apart from the first couple of minutes when we were caught cold by Penycae, where they hit us on the counter attack and took an early lead.We managed to compose ourselves and for the remainder of the half we completely dominated.

Lewis Jones managed to pull us level shortly after Penycae had taken the lead, and soon after completed his hat-trick either side of a stunning strike from Chad Humphreys and a 35 yarder from Adam Davies, which took us in at half time with a 5–1 lead.

The second half was a bit closer although I thought we controlled the game and we finally put the seal on the winwhen Kain Davies tidy finish put us 6–1 in front.

I thought we defended from the front and the work ethic was extremely pleasing and hopefully this will continue for the rest of the season.

MATCH DAY 2 v Garden Village (away)

17th September 2011

Result: - Lost 3-2

Match Report: -

We started this match the same way as the match against Penycae by getting Garden Village an early lead directly from our own goal kick. Fortunatley it was not too long before we drew level when Kain Davies ran onto a through ball from  Jimmy Hill to slot neatly past the the GV keeper.

We struggled for the remainder of the half with the ball over the top and I know the breezy conditions did not help and Garden Village took the lead again directly this time from a corner. Garden Village stretched their lead to 3-1 before half time whenlack of communication in midfield let the ball through to the GV striker who did not hesitate and struck the ball into the net from the corner of the area. We started the second half much better and pressed Garden Village from the whistle. About 10 minutes into the second half we got the break through when Kain scored again tapping in from close range.

We continued to dominate Garden Village throughout the remainder of the second half and I was certain the equaliser was coming only for us to run out of time.

Given the chances we created in the second half I feel that we should have won the game, as Garden Village rarelt threatenedus in the second half. I can't fault the effort and commitment from the players in the second half, I just feel that if we would have played with the same level of effort and commitment in the first half we would have won the game comfortably.

Man of the Match: - Lewis Dudley-Smith

MATCH DAY 3 v Marford & Gresford  (home)

24th September 2011

Result: - Won 6 - 0

Match Report: -

A fantastic performance from the entire squad today as we dominated the game from start to finish.

Today we controlled every aspect of the pitch from the solid back line through the midfield to the front three.

From the start we went at M&G gave them no space or time and deservedly took the lead through some persistent pressure from James Owen and the goalscorer Kain Davies.  Goal two was just about pure class as Kain ran onto a great through ball from Andrew Vale to lob the keeper from 18 yards.  Goal 3 was a great cross shot from Andrew Vale after some good work from Jimmy Hill.

In the second half we started were we finished off with a great interchange on the left with Kain Davies neatly netting his hat-trick goal.  Minutes later it was 5-0 as Lewis Jones smashed the ball in from 7 yards giving the keeper no chance.  Kain then netted his fourth of the day after a good run drilling the ball through the keeper.

Today was a joy to watch, the football was first class against a decent side we completely dominated.

Man of the Match: - Kain Davies

Match Day 4  Ruthin Town (home)

8th October 2011

Result  -   won 3 - 2

We started this match in the best possible way by attacking Ruthin, and after 10 mins Chris Dixon scored a cracker form the corner of the 18 yard box to put us in front.

Then about 5 minutes later Ruthin scored from what was their first chance to get the ball in our half, such was our early control on the game.

with about 2 mins to half time Ruthin were awarded a dubious free kick mid way in our half, Lewis could only manage to palm the ball down from the shot and Ruthin scored from the rebound, which gave them a 2 - 1 half time lead, which was totally against the run of play.

At half time we said that we had to make sure that we maintained our control on the game by continuing to press Ruthin back into their own half. Our persistence paid off when Andrew Vale scored a beauty from 20 yards to put us back on level terms and with about 10 minutes to go Chad Humphreys hit a hopeful shot at goal only for the keeper to spill and Elson Fernandes followed up to tap the ball home from 2 yards to put us in the lead. Once we took the lead again, i felt the result was never in doubt as we never took our foot off the pedal to let Ruthin back into the game.

Match Day 5  Broughton SuperSaints (away)

                       N.E.W.F.A Cup Rd 1   15th October 2011

Result  -   Drew 1 – 1 aet (won 4-1 on Penalties)

This was a very tight game from start to finish, played between two very good teams. It wasn’t until midway through the first half when we managed to break the deadlock, when Lewis Jones produced a magic piece of skill in box to lose the defender and fired his shot low to the keeper’s right. The half ended with us having the slender lead.

The second half continued in the same vain, then Broughton managed to draw level 10 mins into the second half when we failed to clear a corner and the ball fell kindly for them to fire in the equaliser from close range.

The game finished 1-1 meaning extra time. We continued pressing looking for the winner and I thought we had got it when a shot from Bellamy came off the post and unfortunately came back straight into the goalkeepers hands. We were also let off ourselves when Broughton hit the bar deep into extra time. No team could find the winner so it was penalties.

We managed to edge Broughton out on Penalties 4 – 1.

I have to say that the quality of our penalty taking was first class.

Lewis Hall made two fantastic saves from their penalties that probably took the pressure off a bit for us.

Man of the Match Lewis Hall

Match Day 6    Llangollen U14’s (home)

                         League Cup rd 1

Result  -   Lost 6 - 0

Saturday’s game is one to forget about. When the draw was made it was always going to be a tough task to beat a team that is a year older and physically stronger than us.

Saying that I do feel that we did not play our best football today either, although when we did string 5 or 6 passes together we looked dangerous, and for a bit more luck in front of goal we might have had a couple of goals ourselves.

To be fair Llangollen did not take us lightly and you could tell that by the way they played and took their chances when they came and ran out deserved winners.

Hopefully that result will make us even more determined to well in our next league game.

Man of the Match – Chris Dixon

Match Day 7 Borras Park Rangers (away)

                    League – 12th November 2011

Result – Lost 4 – 3

I thought we started the game quite brightly, and then it all went wrong. Borras managed to take the lead after about 7 minutes

Where what appeared to be a two footed challenge on Lewis hall went unnoticed by the referee and the ball spilled loose only

To leave the Borras striker with the simple tap in.

From that moment on we seemed to lose our heads because the referee did not give the free kick and Borras capitalised on

that and managed to score another two goals in quick succession, in what was 5 minutes of madness leaving us 3-0 down after 15mins.

At this point we were not playing the type of football I expected to see and we were not passing the ball like I know we can.

Towards the end of the first half we started to get a bit of a foot hold in the game and although we had a few chances to score

We failed to find the net leaving the half time score at 3-0.

After the half time team talk we started the second half with much more purpose and with only 1minute on the clock some good pressure

From Kain Davies forced the Borras centre back into a rash decision and he looped the ball over his own goalkeeper and into the net to pull a goal back.

Within 3minutes of the restart we found ourselves on the score sheet again when we were awarded a penalty and Chad Humphreys tucked it away with ease.

At this point I felt that were dominating the game only for Borras to breakaway and score a fourth goal to take a 4-2 lead. With about 20minutes to go we were

Awarded a free kick about 30 yards from goal and Chad stepped up and his stunning strike hit the top corner “4-3”

The momentum was certainly with us for the remainder of the game and we created a number of very good chances to grab the equaliser only to fall short.

Man of the MatchChad Humphreys

Match Day 8   Buckley Town (away)

NEWFA Cup R2

Result Won 17-0

We started this game in the best possible way and attacked Buckley from the start.

After only 2 minutes we found ourselves in front when a lovely cross from Andrew Vale was met by Chad Humphries at the back post to put us 1-0 up, from then on we were always in control of the game and were 9-0 up at half time.

The second half continued in the same vain with us in total control of the game and we continued to score at will.

It was nice to see a variety of players getting on the score sheet as Andrew Vale managed to get 6 goals, Chad Humphreys with 3, Kain Davies 2 and Elson 1.

It was also good to see James Owen getting his first goals of the season bagging 2,James Richards,Sam Giles and Bellamy their first of the season.

An extremely good performance today and what a way to book our quarter final place.

Man of Match: Andrew Vale

Match Day 9 Chirk Youth

                     League 3rd December 2011

Result –  Won 2 - 0

This was a game of very few chances, although we kept possession of the ball well in the early stages of the first half, we just lacked the final ball.  And it wasn’t until about 20 minutes in did we have our first clear cut opportunity to score and that came from  a penalty when the Chirk player handled the ball from our free kick.

Chad Humphreys coolly put the ball into the top right hand corner to put us 1 – 0 in front.then about seven minutes later we had a good attack down the right and the ball came into the box and a smart lay off from Jimmy set up Adam on the left hand side of the box who smashed the ball into the net to increase our lead to 2 – 0.

The second half continued in the same way only we could not extend our lead, where I feel we just failed to find the final ball. Defensively I thought we were superb and limited Chirk to very little opportunities to get back into the game and ran out worthy winners.

 Man of the MatchJames Owen

Match Day 10

Mynydd Isa Young Guns (away)

N.E.W.F.A Cup Round 3 7-01-12

Result – Won 5 - 2

We could not have got the New Year under way any better than we did on Saturday.

When the draw was made it was always going to be a difficult game as Mynydd Isa

Are riding high in their league.

I think that we prepared ourselves really well for this game considering the break from

Football due to the Christmas break.

We started the game really strongly and took the game to Mynydd Isa and created a number

Of chances, but it wasn’t until around the 20 minute mark when we found the net when

Lewis Jones finished superbly. Then with about 10 minutes until half time we had a corner

Which was cleared and Thomas Mullen hit a shot from about 30 yards that flew into the net

To give a 2-0 half time lead.

We started the second half in the same vain and scored again When Chad Humphreys found

Lewis Jones down the Right and hit his shot early and over the goal keeper to make it 3-0.

It was soon 4-0 when an opportunist strike from Jimmy Hill found the bottom corner.

We then conceded a penalty, which was scored from the rebound after Lewis Hall saved

The first kick.

Mynydd Isa the managed to score again with about 10 minutes to go when a looping shot

Gave Lewis Hall no chance and brought the score back to 4-2.

Lewis Jones the eased any nerves we may have had when he completed his Hat-trick to

Make the final result 5-2.

MATCH DAY 11 v Penycae (home)

21st January 2012

Result: - Won 3-1

Match Report: -

I thought we started the game very well against Penycae and took an early lead through Lewis Jones who finished well from inside the box.We then managed to get a second just after from a well taken corner by Chad was met by Levi to score his first goal of the season.

Unfortunately from then on it was a struggle and our play was really flat, although we had the lions share of possession we failed to do anything with it.

2-0 half time the second half started the way we finished,a lot of possession but failed to find the killer ball.We did however manage to get the ball through on one occassion midway through the second half when James Owen cooly flicked the ball past the goalkeeper from the edge of the box when he latched on to a through ball to put us 3-0 up.

Penycae did have a couple of chances and managed to pull one back making the score 3-1 to Brickfield

Man of Match: James Richards

Match Day 12 Garden Village (home) 28-01-12

Result –  Won 4 - 0

A fantastic performance  throughout the whole squad today. I felt that we controlled the game and scored some excellent team goals.

We scored our first and second goals coincidentally when we were down to 10 men as Chad was receiving some treatment on his injured ankle. Lewis Jones managed to put us in front after some very unselfish play from Kain Davies who set up Lewis who could miss from 15 Yards. Kain himself them got on the score sheet as his determined run was rewarded with a smart finish to increase our lead all in the space of about 6 minutes.

Levi then scored what I thought was the goal of the game when he burst from midfield and latched onto a through ball and chipped it over the advancing goalkeeper to put us 3-0 up at half time. The second half was same as we created a number of good chances but just failed to find the finish while at the other end of the pitch our defenders were excellent and kept Garden Village at bay. The game was sown up on 50 minutes when Chad Humphreys raced onto another through ball and slotted it past the GV goalkeeper to make it 4-0, and that’s how it finished.

Match Day 13  Borras Park Rangers (home) 18-02-12

Result –  lost  1- 0

This game was crucial in deciding where the league title went this season, so was always going to be a tight game.

The conditions did help either side and the football was restricted to long balls for much of the first half and there was very limited goal mouth action.

There was not much change in the second half and only a couple of chances for both teams of any note.

Unfortunately for us it was Borras who found the breakthrough when a counter attack in which they had a player spare managed to find the net to seal a 1-0 win.

Congratulations to Borras Park Rangers on winning the league

Man of the Match –   Lewis Dudley-Smith

Match Day 14  Marford & Gresford (away) 25-02-12

Result –  lost  5 - 3

We started this game quite well considering the result we suffered the week before and it wasn’t too long before we found our scoring touch when a lovely lay off from Bellamy set up Chris for a superb finish. That was soon added to when Jimmy set a lovely shot into the top corner to put us 2-0 up.

Just before half time Marford & Gresford managed to get a goal back when some confusion in our box led to a ricochet and the ball ended up in the net

Half Time 2-1 up

Marford & Gresford seemed to grow in confidence after the break and were on the front foot from the whistle and turned the game around to lead 3-2. We then managed to get back on terms when a good finish from James Owen brought the game level. We then seemed to switch off and let Marford & Gresford take the lead again and then to add insult to injury the got another to finish the game 5 – 3

Man of the Match –   Bellamy Jones

Match Day 15  Flint Town (away) 03-03-12

                        N.E.W.F.A Cup Semi-Final

Result –  lost  7 - 3

This game started the worst possible way by us conceding a penalty after only 2 minutes. A couple of minutes later it was 2-0 when we failed to clear a corner and Flint poked the ball into the net.

Before we new it, it was 4-0 to Flint and we had conceded another penalty. This was before we had even got started. By half time we were 6-0 down and going out of the cup. We just didn’t seem to get anywhere near the Flint players and gave them time and space to do what they wanted with the ball.

The second half was much more encouraging and we started to play like I know we can. It wasn’t long into the second half when Lewis Jones scored and hopefully the start of the fight back although we had one hell of a mountain to climb.

Kain Davies then added a second for us, but Flint broke away and scored again.

We then managed to score a third goal when an excellent finish by Kain Davies found the top corner.

A much better second half but we lost the game in the first half.

Man of the Match –   Jimmy Hill

Match Day 16 Ruthin Blues (home) 10-03-12

Round 1 Joe Jones Memorial Cup

Result – Won 1 - 0

We took early control on this game and dominated the early possession, but it wasn’t until about 25 minutes in did we manage to find the net, when a lovely wide pass from James Richards found Lewis Jones on the corner of the box and he somehow weaved his way in and got a shot at goal which found the bottom corner.

Half time 1 – 0

The second half continued in the same manner with us controlling the game however we failed to build on the lead although we created a number of good chances and Sam Giles headed against the bar with his first touch from a Chad corner. We went close on a couple more occasions but just failed to find the finish and the game ended with a 1 – 0 win.

Man of the Match –   Adam Davies

Match Day 17 Marford & Gresford U14s (home) 17-03-12

Round 2 Joe Jones Memorial Cup

Result – Lost 1 - 0

We started this game really well and took early control of the game and dominated the possession. I have to say that I was really impressed with the work rate from the team as a whole. We limited M & G to very opportunities and the only ones they did have came on the counter attack as we were pinning them back in their own half.

Half time 0 – 0

The second half started and M & G started to have a little bit more of the game, but we were holding our own even though we couldn’t find the breakthrough. Then with about 8 minutes left on the clock M&G had a corner which was swung into the back post and they managed to get a touch on the ball and poke it into the net. I honestly felt the goal was against the run of play even though at the time of the goal M&G were having their best spell of the game.

A brave performance by all today and did not deserve to be on the losing side.

Man of the Match –   Lewis Dudley-Smith

Match Day 18 Ruthin Town (away)  24-03-12

                        League

Result – Drew 2 - 2

A very good team performance today and I thought we were really unluck not to come away from Ruthin with all 3 points.

We took the lead after about 18 minutes when a superb 30 yard strike from Chris Dixon put us 1-0 in front and it was totally deserved as I thought we were playing well. Unfortunately the lead was cancelled out when the Ruthin striker burst through on the counter attack and flicked the ball past Tom Williamson to put them level

Half time 1 - 1

Ruthin Managed to take the lead virtually straight from the re-start when the burst down their left and fired in a low cross which was tucked away to put them 2–1 up. We continued to press and restricted Ruthin to only counter attacks. Our determination finally paid off and with about 10 minutes to go found the equaliser when Kain Davies managed to stroke the ball home. Although we pushed for the winner it never came and ended 2-2
